Granny squares & tea cosies

I admire the skill of the lost but reviving crafts, and in particular love the quirky yet vibrant colour and innocence of a time gone that granny squares and tea cosies evoke.  You can’t get better than a hot cuppa poured from a teapot – and they look so homely!!  My fav are the skull cosies, can’t get cooler than that.  BIG LOVE.

Megan Hansen-Knarhoi

I came across Megan’s “flock” artwork in an interior-styled shot for Home NZ mag, and further in there was an artist profile on her; intrigued by her work I found her website and more recently her Facebook page.   Megan’s craft is wool and crochet, of which she is an artistic master, and largely uses this medium to question religion and faith, and does so in a very controversial manner in an x-rated exhibition named “Crotchtit” – you’ll have to visit her website to view (highly recommended).  I personally love religious iconography, vintage and modern, and applaud artists who offer a realist viewpoint on religion and faith in its modern context, and in general, communicate controversy and the reality, irony and contradictions of social conditions via an artistic medium.  Very clever.  DEEP LOVE.
